SYSGO takes a new line of virtualization and offers a PikeOS Guest OS for full hardware virtualization, which enables fast communication between hardware and application. Benchmarks show that the performance of ELinOS (SYSGO's own embedded Linux distribution) on the new PikeOS guest OS in most of the scenarios is equal to the native performance. Especially programs utilizing system calls and exceptions benefit by cutting the otherwise para-visualization performance overhead. In contrast to para-virtualization, full virtualization enables operating systems such as Linux or Android to run on top of PikeOS without adaptation.
Renesas R -CAR H2 is the second generation high-performance system-on-chip car information system for the automotive market for 2015 based on ARM Cortex A15 quad core. In addition to hardware virtualization, PikeOS offers automotive specific personalities like Android, AUTOSAR, GENIVI, Linux, Native, OSEK, and POSIX® for the board. PikeOS controls the multiple kernels and various applications, which are strictly separated by patented time, space and resource partitioning.
About PikeOS
PikeOS is an innovative product, providing an embedded systems platform where multiple virtual machines can run simultaneously in a secure environment. The Safe and Secure Virtualization (SSV) technology allows multiple operating system APIs, called “Guest OS”, to run concurrently on one machine, e.g. an ARINC 653 application together with Linux. The PikeOS microkernel architecture allows it to be used in cost sensitive, resource constrained devices as well as large, complex systems. The simplicity and compactness of the PikeOS design results in real-time performance that competes head-to-head with conventional proprietary RTOS solutions. PikeOS is certifiable to safety standards like DO-178B/C, IEC 61508, EN 50128, IEC 62304 or ISO 26262, is MILS compliant, and is currently involved in various security standard Common Criteria EAL 5/6 certification projects. Recently PikeOS achieved the first EN 50128 SIL 4 certification of the market on a multi-core system.
