TU Kaiserslautern Real-Time Lab

TU Kaiserslautern launches real-time Lab in Cooperation with SYSGO

SYSGO, PikeOS

On January 19, 2018 the TU Kaiserslautern, Chair for Real-time Systems headed by Prof. Fohler with support from SYSGO AG has launched a practice course (a lab). The lab provides students an excellent opportunity to work on industrial grade hardware (Xilinx Zynq 7000), open source technologies such as Linux, as well as with industrial real-time hypervisor PikeOS.

The course is split into four lab tasks. Students will fine-tune network streaming applications, implement a streaming adaptation algorithm, deploy Linux in virtual machines on embedded hardware, configure and deploy embedded hypervisor PikeOS. At the end of the course, all pieces of an integrated embedded system shall fit together to have a smooth video stream.

Prof. Fohler said “The lab sessions in cooperation with SYSGO provide a great opportunity for students to relate the theoretical contents of the lectures with practical, hands-on experiences working with a real-life industrial hypervisor. They also give the students a chance to experience a full-system development life-cycle. We look forward to the possibility of collaborating with SYSGO in the future.”
