ELinOS, the only distribution for embedded Linux to come from Germany so far, will be extended by numerous functions in version 2.0. For the first time, a German-language development environment is equipped with the kernel extension RTAI and enables the use of Linux in the environment of hard real-time tasks. In addition to the version for Intel processors, the development environment ELinOS is now also available for the PowerPC in German and English language versions.

The so far only development environment for embedded Linux coming from Germany will be extended by special PowerPC functions. This will extend the application range of the integrated development environment ELinOS and support not only Intel but also PowerPC processors. A first prototype of ELinOS 2.0 will be presented at the Embedded Systems 2001 in Nuremberg already with the new Linux Kernel 2.4.

SYSGO Real-Time Systems is stepping up its Linux activities. In the second half of the year, SYSGO plans to release its own Linux distribution for embedded systems.

SYSGO Real-Time Solutions has been awarded a contract worth USD 2 million by the American group Rockwell Collins Inc. Within the framework of this contract, SYSGO will support the American supplier of electronic systems in the certification of operating system software for safety-critical applications (DO-178B).

With ELinOS, SYSGO offers the first development environment for embedded Linux systems originating from Germany. During Systems 2000, SYSGO will present the new development environment on powerful and cost-effective hardware platforms: JUMPtec DimmPC, AMD SC520, SSV DIL/NetPC, Syslogic CUB/COMPACT-1S, Advantech Series WEB-2143, EPSON CardPCI/GX.
