Edison, New Jersey a leading provider of integrated PowerPC- and Pentium-based VME COTS computing systems and solutions to OEMs and system integrators, and SYSGO, the European vendor of reliable device software, today announce that SYSGO's ELinOS, the first Industrial Grade Linux solution, is available aboard Thales' single-board computers (SBCs).
SYSGO's ELinOS is a complete integrated development environment for embedded application development. With quickstart configuration editor and real-time extensions, the industrial grade ELinOS is ideal for defense and aerospace applications. Embedded Linux, with its feature richness and royalty free usage, has grown considerably in popularity over the past few years. ELinOS is the first Industrial Grade Linux solution in the marketplace. ELinOS includes Kernels 2.6.15 and 2.4.31 with necessary security patches and are qualified on support hardware platforms which include Thales' VCE405 Connectivity Engine, PowerEngine7 and PENTXM. ELinOS will be available, at year's end, on Thales' PENTXM2, the first dual core Intel Xeon VME blade.
“Several of our current customers have been using ELinOS on our single board computers with outstanding results, said Alain Albarello, general manager Thales computers activities. “The French Navy's amphibious command ships and ASM destroyers use our VCE405 and ELinOS for interface systems between operational networks, PENTXM and ELinOS is used for naval missile launching equipment and PowerEngine7 and ELinOS is used extensively for air traffic management systems. These customers know Thales' state-of-the-art technology and have come to rely on ELinOS's embeddability and outstanding local support.”
“The demands of the embedded computer and software markets keep growing,” said SYSGO CEO Knut Degen. “By teaming with Thales, and their outstanding line-up of ruggedized multiprocessing computing systems, we can offer comprehensive computing solutions that will meet the most stringent requirements set out by the defense, aerospace and industrial automation markets.”
