Mid of January Miele presented their new generation of built-in kitchen appliances at the LivingKitchen trade show in Cologne. The presentation of the new Generation 6000 attracted wide interest among the audience. Products are ranging from ovens, steam cookers and coffee machines to microwave ovens. The new generation stands for even greater elegance, versatility and user convenience in the kitchen. New functionalities and a cross-product design are major improvements especially in terms of user friendliness.
With its Embedded Linux ELinOS, SYSGO delivered major components and provided important tools that could easily be integrated into the Miele software development environment. Short compilation times, the unique ”Embedded Linux Konfiguration” (ELK) tool and the ability to integrate Adobe Flash Lite into ELinOS were the main reasons that convinced Miele’s engineers. As Miele knew from the beginning that the development of their new product generation would take several years, the need of a reliable partner was mandatory.
“We decided to go that long term development path with SYSGO as they have many years of experience with Linux used in industrial equipments. We have been pleased by the competence and reliability of the SYSGO team who provided excellent engineering services as well as the usability of the ELinOS product”, said Detlef Niehaus, Head of Electronic Component Development at Miele & Cie. KG.
“With the Generation 6000 Miele sets new standards in terms of design and handling. We are very proud that we could help to develop such a promising product generation and we are looking forward to continuing our successful collaboration in the future”, said Gregor Braun, Key Account Manager at SYSGO.
About ELinOS
ELinOS is a comprehensive development environment for embedded Linux software development. Unlike traditional Linux implementations, SYSGO’s ELinOS is purpose-built for use in demanding industrial applications. SYSGO brings 15+ years of field expertise to make an embedded Linux offering well suited for real-world complex applications, and to back it up with world-class support. Many BSPs corresponding to the most successful boards on the market are included as well as BSPs for virtualization engines such as QEMU and VMware, or for the other SYSGO flagship product PikeOS.
Besides the widely-used x86 version, ELinOS also supports PowerPC-, ARM-, MIPS-, SPARC and SH-platforms. ELinOS includes CODEO, the Eclipse based development environment that provides guided configuration, remote debugging (often down to the hardware instruction level), target monitoring, remote application deployment, and timing analyses in addition to standard application development features such as compilers and assemblers.
