New Railway Certification for PikeOS RTOS & Hypervisor
SYSGO is now covering another important safety area with its real-time operating system and hypervisor PikeOS. In addition to the existing standards EN 50128, IEC 61508 and ISO 26262, the railway standard EN 50657 (software for railway vehicles) is now supported. TÜV Süd certified compliance with the safety requirement level SIL 2 with certificates for the architectures ARM7, ARM8 and X86-64.
The EN 50657 standard is a guideline for the development of safety-critical software for rail vehicles used in rail transport. The standard applies to software for rolling stock in addition to the EN 50128 standard covering software for railway controlling and surveillance systems. The standard brings an additional brick to ease certification of critical embedded railway systems.
"We are pleased that with this new module – the EN 50657 certification – we have come one step closer to our goal of making PikeOS the core of safety-critical software solutions in the embedded systems area," said Sven Nordhoff, Director Certification at SYSGO. “Our certificates are the basis for reliable and safe interaction of railway software, decreased costs and time exposure for railway software development and ultimately increased safety for railway employees and rail riders,” Nordhoff adds.
