The largest European tradeshow on the topic of Connected Car and Automated Driving will once again turn Berlin into a hotspot for the automotive industry. At the international "CONCAR-EXPO 2018", experts from the automotive industry, software development and the IT sector will present the current state-of-the-art on June 27 and 28. Novelty 2018: CONCAR-EXPO gets its own congress.

CONCAR-EXPO is Europe's largest tradeshow covering all aspects of connected vehicles, automated driving and mobility solutions. In June, the tradeshow will once again bring together more than 1,000 participants and 80 exhibitors. Their common goal: to understand, shape and sustainably advance the mobility of the future across all industries.

One of the innovations the 2018 show will feature: The ConCarCongress. Here, international experts will give short presentations on the topics of automated driving, automotive mobility & digital infrastructure, IT security in vehicles, and HMI & automotive connectivity. In the four half-day modules, the tradeshow visitors can expand their expertise on current topics.

Automated driving

Self-driving cars represent one of the most significant developments for the automotive industry and drivers. Automation not only influences the use of vehicles, but also the entire understanding of mobility: from vehicle design to a correspondingly adapted infrastructure, far-reaching changes are on the horizon in the near future. The first steps toward automating public transport have already been taken, for example with Personal Rapid Transit, i.e. passenger transport systems that take passengers to their destination individually on order and fully automatically without stopping, as in Masdar (Abu Dhabi). However, it will be some time before we see fully autonomous cars on the road.

Exciting presentations are coming on topics including:

Automobile mobility & digital infrastructure

For automated driving to become possible at all, a comprehensible, reliable and fast exchange of information between the vehicle and its environment is necessary. Accordingly, fundamental information and communication structures must be planned and implemented so that a corresponding digital infrastructure is created. Experts from the automotive, telecommunications and IT sectors will present what this can look like.

Among the topics they will cover are:

IT security in the vehicle

Whether it's GPS connectivity or infotainment that can be controlled online, the possibilities of digitalization mean added value for OEMs, suppliers and, above all, the end user. Connecting the vehicle with its environment and other road users improves traffic flow and increases safety. However, in addition to the practical benefits, connecting to the Internet of Things (IoT) also poses a security risk. Experts will discuss how this can be reduced and what new measures exist to protect automotive information technology in their presentations.

Topics include:

When buying a car, users no longer focus on performance and design alone: powerful infotainment systems are becoming an increasingly important factor in the purchase decision. As technologies continue to evolve, from driver assistance systems that measure driver attention to connectivity with mobile devices, new technologies are making driving more comfortable and safer at the same time. The shift to automated driving also entails changes in the interior, with altered interior concepts transforming the car into a living space.

Accordingly, the module covers a broad spectrum, with topics such as:
