At the AMD Embedded Computing Summit (ECS) 2026 in Paris, SYSGO joined technology partners, engineers, and embedded computing experts to explore the latest developments in high-performance embedded systems. With a live avionics demonstrator based on PikeOS and AMD's Versal technology, we showcased how advanced processing performance and Safety-critical software can work together.
From Flight Simulation to Real-World Control
Under the theme "Safe Avionics System Execution in a Mixed-Criticality Flight Environment," our demonstrator combined SYSGO's PikeOS real-time operating system and hypervisor with the AMD Versal AI Edge Series 2 VEK385 platform.
The setup connected the Microsoft Flight Simulator to the AMD processing platform via Ethernet. PikeOS processed the incoming avionics data within strictly isolated software partitions, separating gateway communication from servo control. The resulting signals controlled the flight surfaces of an RC aircraft in real time.

This hands-on demonstration illustrated how different avionics functions and criticality levels can safely coexist on a single hardware platform, benefiting from PikeOS's strong isolation, deterministic execution, and partitioning capabilities.
For avionics developers, this approach offers significant advantages: Reduced integration and certification risks, consolidation of multiple functions, and faster development of secure, safety-critical systems.
Connecting Innovation with Trusted Embedded Software
Beyond the live demo, the summit provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with industry experts and discuss the growing importance of reliable software architectures for next-generation embedded platforms.
With cybersecurity becoming an increasingly critical requirement, reinforced by regulations such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), secure system architectures are more important than ever. PikeOS addresses these challenges through strong partitioning and isolation, helping protect critical functions, limit the impact of potential security breaches, and support the development of resilient embedded systems.
The event once again highlighted the value of combining AMD's advanced processing technologies with SYSGO's expertise in safety- and security-critical embedded software, particularly for demanding aerospace and defense applications.
A big Thank You to AMD for organizing the event and to everyone who visited our demonstrator and exchanged ideas with our team!
We look forward to continuing these conversations and contributing to the future of safe, secure, and certifiable embedded computing.
